Character may be seen in public, but it is sown in private. As D.L. Moody once said, "Character is what a man is in the dark." 'Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits”' (I Corinthians 15:33).

The Lord blesses the house when the servants of the house bless the Lord. Whether it's your house, the work house, the school house, the church house, or even the White House. And the opposite is true, the Lord curses the house when the house curses the Lord. "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it..." (Psalm 127:1).

No one is as deaf as someone whose ears are closed off to the truth. Conversely, those who have ears that bow to truth will have hearts that stand for truth. "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will..."

Those who do not want to be rightly ruled by the grace of God will be rightly ruined by the justice of God. You see, "the Lord searches the heart and tests the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings" (Jeremiah 17:10).

The Word of God declares, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart," not trust in your heart as lord. The former leads to God's peace; the latter, going to pieces. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, He shall direct your paths" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Remember, as this year comes to a close, God is able to recycle evil for good; and yes, even when doing good is reciprocated with evil done. Thus, "do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" (Romans 12:21).
