"FOLLOW YOUR HEART" IS TERRIBLE ADVICE

"Follow your heart" is terrible advice when the heart isn't following the Lord. In other words, you cannot be true to your heart when your heart is not true to you. Jeremiah says, "The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked." Thus, the heart cannot be true to you unless the heart has been made new by truth. "[Put off the old man] and put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him" (Colossians 3:9-10).
