Alright, alright, I hear all the buzz. We praise strength and those willing to go to great lengths to “be true to themselves.” But quite frankly, I don’t have enough time to “keep up with the Kardashians” or this worlds crazy shenanigans. I will say this however--I do think the “Caitlin Jenner” transition is mind boggling; but I am in no position to judge another persons journey. Besides, Jesus loves him just as much as He loves ALL. There is not a single individual that can escape the Savior’s Love, for He died for the world. So let’s get that straight.Having said that, I must add that when we pursue a path, we must be careful not to miss the boat, because we are not the “captains” of our own vessel. Christ is! He is the “Ship” inviting us into His relationship. Yes Jesus loves the “Jenner’s” of the world, but they must love Him back, which means showing submission to His plan, even if it doesn’t feel right. A man-made destiny without Jesus can never be a good decision. I must say truth as I know it: No man or woman has the power within to re-create. You see, self-empowering-self is actually a contradiction in itself--“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; Who can know it? “ (Jeremiah 17:9).It’s not look within to win! It’s look to Jesus who is the only One that can save us from sin—“let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2). How much more strength of character does it take to cast the weight of one’s inner confusion and burdens onto Jesus--even if one has to walk with a subliminal limp on this side of heaven? We all have something we would love to fix or change BUT we are not God and it is He that created us male and female. God doesn’t make mistakes. The Scripture reinforces that as, “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139: 14). Accept it or not, the Word of God is truth! It’s not do what makes you happy. It’s, ‘do you know the only One who can make you happy?’--“You make known to me the path of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence, with eternal pleasures at Your right hand” (Psalm 16:11).Bottom line is this! Self deceives, self weighs you down, self will sink you. Thus, it is impossible “to be true to self.” Remedy: Accept God’s truth and know that Jesus Christ is the only “Surgeon” that can work on the soul. So to live for “vanity fair” sake is vainly unfair to the soul. Life is too short; eternity is forever.
