No man was ever kept out of God’s kingdom for his confessed badness; many are for their supposed goodness (Trapp). And that is why forgiveness comes by appropriating the mercy of the King, which advances the property lines of the Kingdom. "If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us" (1 John 1:10).
