MERCY OVER MERIT

God chooses to save us not because of any merit on our part, but solely based in mercy on His part. You see, we are not worthy of His love but His love makes us worthy. As a result, this unmerited gift should humble us under His hand and harmonize us to His heart. "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit" (Titus 3:5).
