ONLY THE LORD SAVES AND SALVAGES

Man’s best can’t get him to God and man’s worst can’t keep him from God. In other words, it's not our goodness that saves us nor is it our badness that seals our eternal fate. It's only the Lord who saves us and makes us good; and it is only the Lord who salvages us and takes away our bad. It's a work of God in Christ alone, where His righteousness outweighs our wretchedness. "O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!" (Romans 7:24)
