On the cross, Jesus prayed a prayer of forgiveness. Quite frankly, it would have made more sense if He said, "Father, don't hold them guiltless." You see, Jesus spoke words of grace from the cross of shame. He said, "Father forgive them" even as we hung Him. In other words, there is no failure of ours that will ever speak louder than the character of God. His forgiveness is heavier than our sinfulness. "Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:34)
