Let’s not get things twisted—but it’s time to see the grey. A Christ-centered individual doesn’t condemn and contort things, but he does have the responsibility to humbly and carefully expound on things. So, please understand I’m not attacking anyone’s character, but I am trying to expose the innate danger of the erotic persuasion luring many to a false sense of what true love looks like: and it’s not in the pictorial of Fifty Shades of Grey. I don’t need to read a book to know that the ideas being idealized are harmful and morally bankrupt. Just as I don’t need to put my hand in fire to know that it’s hot and will burn me. You see, Fifty Shades of Grey is classified as “erotic fiction” and erotic means, “there is no literary or artistic value other than to stimulate sexual desire.”Hmmmm. Not so much a creative romantic fiction, but more so a manipulative erotic contradiction. It contradicts truth and God’s truth is non negotiable. It contradicts right morals and God’s morals are not shady nor is a “Christian” supposed to be “grey”. And the only “Anastasia” a “Christian” is to trust in, is the one that is about our Savior when we put our trust in Him. Again, without the proper spiritual education, we are so susceptible to getting caught up in the misleading of erotic persuasion. So here are some definitions: the name Christian means to be a “little Christ”; the name Anastasia means “resurrection.” Now re-read the sentence again, highlighted above. And speaking about morals-- or what is immoral-- did you know that the Greek word for “immorality” is porneia; which comes to the English language as porn or pornography. And it is when we consider the dangers in all illicit sexual activity that we begin to see the danger that exists within this book -- and now movie. It’s not what Matt says, but what does God say?God says that if we even look upon a woman with lust that we have committed adultery with her in our hearts. If we look upon the opposite sex as objects of pleasure, we are only reducing them to subjects of our appetite. There is nothing loving nor romantic about, bondage, dominance, sadism, and masochism.Fifty Shades of Grey redefines evil and sugar coats it to look like something that women will enjoy. Crazy thing is how I was locked up in prison with so many “Christian Grey’s” that society had marked as sexual deviants and perverts. But as long as the fiction doesn’t touch your reality, I guess there is nothing wrong with a little bit of sexual immorality. It’s time to see the grey because real love doesn’t reduce or devalue another human being. And in the words of columnist Gina Barreca in response to all the dialogue regarding Fifty Shades, “Perhaps I’m beating a dead horse. But it’s still better than beating a live woman and calling it ‘love’.” #GodsnotGrey #iCONVICTION.
