“A mans gift makes room for him and brings him before great men” (Proverbs 18:16). In other words, blessed is the man who realizes his gift is from God and that God is the one who makes the room for him to stand before great men…or even better-- to stand before children. This past Sunday jumpstarted a series of speaking (and writing) engagements for me, that truly highlights the truth of the above proverb. Having the blessed opportunity to speak about “David and Goliath” to the children’s church at Cape Fellowship in Cape May Court House, really brought a tangible joy to what God has called me to do. Seeing such childlike sincerity and purity brings eternity into perspective and motivates you to reverse the idea of what it means to “grow up.” The children’s simple understanding of God is the practical and chronological definition of maturity. Not according to the sequence of time, but according to the sequence of timelessness. As C.S. Lewis once said, “All that is not eternal is eternally out of date.”Without childlikeness, I am totally out of date.Coming up this Thursday, I will once again be teaching at Coastal Christian Ocean City’s evening fellowship. The service begins at 7pm and the message is centered on explaining the “Beatitudes” or the pathway to happiness. I’m titling it “the Kingdom Constitution” and hopefully will bring to light how King Jesus delineates the process that leads to the true guarantee of life and liberty; and when you pursue Him, how happiness will pursue you. Then after a brief surprise trip to NYC with Sarah for Valentines Day (she knows we are going, but she doesn’t know what we will be doing--a meet and greet fashion show--so shhhh!), I will be giving my testimony at Trinity Alliance Church in Egg Harbor City at 6pm Sunday Evening (Youth ESPECIALLY are all welcome)! And then I’m back at it with my “Decisions Determine Destiny” Program to various High Schools, funded by State Farm. And finally, I am excited to announce that I will once again be writing a monthly column for the Cape May County Herald. I am grateful to Mr. Art Hall for making room for me in his publication to do what God has placed upon my heart: to inspire conscience, influence conduct, and instigate conviction. My new column will be entitled #iCONVICTION. I am humbled how God continues to faithfully order my steps outside of prison. And I am well aware that I don’t deserve any of the above, but because of God’s grace and gift, I am serving Him with all the above.
