Merry CHRISTmas!I recently saw the movie Exodus: gods & kings, and what a major let down. You see, when you know the true story, the worlds portrayal of it is always empty. I left the theater greatly distressed about the script that Hollywood concocted, which was at the expense of the truth of Scriptures and the reality of God’s holiness.I wonder how many people viewed that movie and thought it was accurate? But like I already said, when you know the truth, the world’s best is still a counterfeit. And like this season fading away and that movie falsely portraying the way, if we settle for the worlds ways and sways, then our hearts will always have shelf-life: which is filled for a moment but eventually empty.I think of CHRISTmas and I apply the same truth above. When you know the true story, then the world’s celebration of a holiday is at best distracting. Based on the true story, CHRISTmas is about CHRIST entering our mess. IMMANUEL, “God with us.” Christ entered our world so we can enter His. He gave up heaven to bring heaven to us. . Do we ever consider what He gave up to come down? Do we know what HE sacrificed to redeem us?Nothing of value comes without sacrifice. Anyway, on this day and beyond, remember that God came down to lift you up. Remember that Hope was born in a lowly place, so that we can find God in an approachable place. He chose a dirty manger, so that in our dirt, HE can still be our Savior. Don’t wait until next year to experience the truth of the nativity. Birth the truth now and begin to live in light of eternity. The innkeeper missed it. He might not have had a choice, as his rooms may have really been full. But 2000 years later, the world is still closing their doors off. Think about that! We are so caught up in our own lives that we are missing the Savior of life. The world was different this month. Magically transformed. Tonight though, it begins to fade away. Don’t let the joy and glory be reduced to hallmark. When the lights come down and the decorations get packed away, is it still CHRISTmas to you?Be merry, let CHRIST live in you!
