I cannot be hesitant to lend my opinion to the current cultural discussion that is taking place via media sources. My faith calls me to do so—and I hope when I speak that I always speak with the love of Christ. I try to keep it real-- my “Volume Up” videos hold nothing back. My past blogs never stuttered when it came to presenting truth. So considering the recent Supreme Court ruling regarding the institution of marriage, I biblically, practically, and mathematically have a response. You see, the hashtag used to celebrate this monumental law change, #LoveWins, makes me ask the question: Does love really win?Ok, I get it. Man’s personal application of love seemingly won, but that is the problem from the starting point. When you start at the wrong point—mathematically—it is impossible to have an “equal” result. The math just doesn’t add up nor can it be justified or divided up to fit into any logical answer. Wrong starting point. Wrong journey. Wrong destination. As a matter of truth, any love that doesn’t come from the only pure love—Jesus and His laws—is in fact perverted love. And when we redefine His love and the principles He set out for marriage, well, then we have replaced God’s love with our own personal lust and agendas. We become mini-gods; masters of our own universe. So, #LoveWins the day--only if the math works out. And according to God’s math, man + woman = ONE. I didn’t make that up by the way, it comes from the Bible. And so you might say, “that Book is outdated,” to which I respond, it is the only Book that has stood the test of time and when tested has proved perfect time after time. It’s the only Book whose Author demonstrated His own type of love when He laid down His life to prove pure love wins.I propose a new hashtag for the biblical institution of marriage, #OneWins. Please do not read any hate in my opinion. I have nothing but love and care for those who choose this lifestyle, yet I cannot remain silent when such “lifestyles” disregard the Bible and the price Christ paid to leave us a guidebook for living in this life. The Word of God is—and always will be—my final authority.
