ON-BOARD with the FLIGHT PLAN
I, again, am writing at 30,000 feet in the air. It is currently a very bumpy flight and there is even a thickness of clouds that prevents you from being able to see the “sky-view” outside of the window. Oh how the view of the sky can be so beautiful. The picture and journey is perfect. You see, life is exactly like this airplane ride. You may not be able to see where you’re going in the moment, but because you’re on-board with the flight plan previously mapped out, you can be assured that you’ll eventually get to where you’re going. And even if there are bumps and turbulence along the way, you know such pressures come with flying, and in timely fashion, arriving. And once you get home to your final destination, you look back on the flight and realize the journey was well worth the temporary tribulations. I think you get my drift here. So as a Christ-follower, I know He has already written out each and every day of my life. He has already charted a course for me to make it to my final destination in heaven. That’s a guarantee. But while I am still sojourning on earth, I can expect clouds to block my sight and I can expect turbulence to shake up my seat from time to time. However, and through all of that, believers are still able to sit back and trust the Captain. Since He has already gone to such grave lengths to grant us a safe landing, then why wouldn’t He give us His strength for the flying—those who wait on the Lord will mount up with wings like eagles. So, at the same time that I am waiting for this flight to end, I am also working on this writing. That is what it means to “wait on the Lord”—working faithfully while you are waiting patiently. Too many Christians are attempting to sleep through the journey or they spend too much time complaining about the inconveniences of the journey. All the while they miss the absolute beauty of flying and safely arriving. The times we are currently living through seem to be the shakiest and even the scariest. Yet, instead of fighting about the politics as usual and fretting about the outcome being so unusual, let us fly higher, fight harder, and keep our perspective constantly on the spiritual. I don’t claim to know God’s plan, but I am grateful that He gives us His will and allows us to get on-board with His flight plan—“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus.”
