Alright! This, by no means, is meant to stir up any opinions or arguments about the presidential election. Let’s get one thing straight, I am a convicted felon and as such, cannot vote until I am off of parole supervision. This is also not me picking apart any one candidate, and even if I did, who would actually care about my little old perspective anyway. This is, however, meant to stir up simple reason and practical logic. Anyway, I was in my gyms sauna and I was asked if I caught the debates. I replied, “No, I was traveling while they were on TV.” The apparent political guru continued, “Well, let me tell you what I think….,” And then he proceeded to propose why Hillary Clinton is by far the better candidate. And let me tell you, his logic and intelligence was clearly epitomized when he compared Donald Trump to Adolf Hitler. And I quote, “Trump is just as warped and narcissistic as Adolf Hitler. In fact, they are cut from the same cloth.”And so I sat astounded --because whether you like Donald Trump or not-- to compare him to Adolph Hitler or Stalin shows a distorted mindset at the very least and total ignorance of the likes of Adolph Hitler at the very most.So without going into detail about my response, let’s just say I might of won the argument but lost the soul. I couldn’t help myself, forgive me Lord, but for any single soul to be so delusional when it comes to a world-view just shows you the clear view of our world. Again, I am not even talking about a biblical world-view, but a normal, sensible, world-view. Like one that understands that Hitler’s type of leadership and rule is “a little bit different" than per say, a Donald Trumps. So here’s the lesson. Though we are in the world, we are called to never be “of the world.” We are called to stand on truth, even when the truth gets us laughed at. Because surely, as soon as I mentioned I was a Jesus-follower, this particular individual then resorted to calling me names. (I hope he doesn’t put me in the Hitler category too). It was apparent that name-calling was the only rebuttal he could “sensibly” offer.Anyway, I survived to live another day with the obvious take away: Don’t talk about politics anywhere--especially in a sauna, especially when the other person is sitting there naked physically and discernment tells you they are even naked spiritually. That’s my piece and I’m sticking to it. And Jesus is my peace and I am thankful that He is sticking with me…in spite of me.
