STANDING FIRM in CONVICTION
If you're a person of faith, you've probably experienced faulty accusations and sometimes even outright persecution. And unfortunately there will be times when your presence diminishes somebody else’s significance, and then you've inadvertently created an enemy without even knowing it. Your intention is not to intimidate, but because you stand firm in your conviction, those who are insecure stand down due to internal friction. Jesus' presence did just that, in the presence of the self-righteous and the self-absorbed, His poise and silent power made their inner noise birth envy and turmoil. They could not stand His liberty, which is why their secret animosity led to public hostility.Likewise, to be a presence for Christ is to invite the opposition of strife. But one must be comfortable in his conviction in order to choose the path with most resistance--not bowing down to the world and its ways, but standing up for integrity-sake. It’s an internal composure that makes you comfortable in your skin, not because of self-confidence, but because of the Spirit led conscience. Conversely, the skin that crawls is indicative of the spirit being off. You see, a comfortable conviction makes your presence either intimidate or attract. And that’s why in Jesus’ beautiful presence, some wanted just Him, while others just wanted to trap Him.They felt as if His presence diminished their significance, when it was His presence that could have completed their existence. I wonder whose fault that was, theirs or His? Exactly! It was their own personal defects in life, that made them reject the Messiah, the King, the Christ. You see, accepting Him makes your presence significant, not because you are anything, but it’s His life that then becomes your conviction. Ready to die for the One that made you alive. Yea that type of presence threatens, but only because other people’s consciences are deafened. Your stance makes them uneasy to a fault, and I’m learning more and more each day that this type of godly presence is not the Christians fault. Therefore, we need to be resolved in our conviction to not bow down to the world around us by standing firm for the heavens above us. And yes, you can expect those of the world to not understand it and even to condemn it. But with God's presence, by faith, you can stand against it.
