This is the BLUF! “The Bottom Line Up Front” that is the complete opposite of the worldly bluff and the only pursuit that is integrity tough. It’s the only “business” that matters in life; not that other projects aren’t important, but this projection is more than a financial investment and comes with the only forecast that is eternally relevant. So what that we build earthly kingdoms that help the world around us! What about the day that work is presented to the Father above us? What will actually pass through the fire? Will anything be left over that proved to be done with Christ-desire? (I Corinthians 3:10-15).We don’t think that far ahead, but neither did the rich man in the parable with Lazarus until he was already dead. “And being in torment in Hades, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom” (Luke 16:23). Finally and tragically! He lifted up his eyes towards heaven, but it was too late because he neglected the poor man at his gate. His sin wasn’t what he did, it’s what he failed to do. It’s what he failed to see as necessary for eternity. He may have been a good business man. A good member of society, but what did all those “riches” get him when it was all said and done, and his life was defined by spiritual poverty. And at that point, he finally saw the vanity in money, because he was asking Father Abraham to send poor ol’Lazarus to his brothers to give testimony. Send the one that you neglected? Why? Because the rich man finally saw that it was Lazarus who was the one with the right message. But it was too late. He may have had heaven while on earth, but hell became his eternity. He chose not the things of God while alive, thus getting none of God when dead. We get what we pursue in this life.So back to the BLUF! And the bottom line is this: Where’s God at in your life? Is He a just priority like “time spent with your wife?” Is He just a rank on a list, kind of like grocery shopping and categorizing what foods you’ll actually need to live? I’ll tell you where He is without you having to even make an organizational flow chart. He is the life. He is the organization. You don’t prioritize breathing, because the result of that would be choking. But that’s exactly what we do when we try to live and do life without God in every area. Without His oxygen and presence flowing through every aspect of our lives, nothing that comes across your desk will be worth the Benjamin’s in the next. And that’s not a bluff after all!
