THE RESOLUTION OF TRUTH (THOUGHTS FOR A NEW YEAR)

"Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth" (Ephesians 6:14).

In a world where falsehoods abound and truth seems elusive, standing for the truth of God’s Word becomes an act of courage and resilience. You see, we are surrounded by a cacophony of opinions, ideologies, and narratives that are competing for our attention, often blurring the lines between what is genuine and what is fabricated. It can seem so disorienting. And if time were to testify on itself about the times ahead, then I don’t see any letting up of the lies. In an increasingly evil world, the lies, deception, and delusion will be amped up. Pray for eyes to see.  

As believers, we are called to anchor ourselves in the unchanging bedrock of truth regardless of the times. Our lives are to be adorned with the belt of truth, a steadfast commitment to what is right, honest, and aligned with God's Word. This truth isn't just a concept; it's a person—Jesus Christ, who declared Himself as "the way, the truth, and the life" (John 14:6). Pray for courage to be immovable.‍

Standing for truth doesn't merely mean opposing falsehoods; it involves embodying and living out the truth in our life and lip. It requires discernment, for the world often disguises lies as truth, leading many astray. Yet, through prayer, meditation on Scripture, and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can discern and uphold the truth in a world shrouded in deception. Pray for boldness to speak up.‍

It's crucial to realize that standing for truth may invite opposition, ridicule, and even persecution. Jesus Himself faced hostility for speaking truth in love. However, our commitment to the truth of God’s Word isn't about winning arguments but about reflecting the character of Christ and bearing witness to His redemptive power. In and through us. It isn’t just a principle but possesses the transformative power that sets men free. Our unwavering loyalty to truth becomes a beacon of hope and light. Pray to reflect His light.‍

So as this New Year unfolds, may we be ambassadors of the Truth; and may we defend an unwavering conviction for that truth and do so with grace and humility. Pray to uphold truth, for as we do so, we align ourselves with the very heart of God and the Spirit of truth.
