Dear Heavenly Father, "So far today I have done very well. I have not lied, cheated or complained. I have not looked down upon my neighbors nor have I gossiped about others. So far, so good, Heavenly Father, but I know I am going to need Your help for the rest of my day. I am asking You now for that guidance because I’m about to get out of bed. Amen.”While I'm just being facetious here, there is some sad truth to the shallow intent of our prayers. And sometimes the only chance this world gives us to remain righteous is if we stay in bed because once we hit the world running, we are prone to be sabotaged by negative thoughts, the lust of the eye and the pride of life. The bottom line is that we need God’s help always--before we get out of bed, after we get out of bed, and all throughout our daily routines. We need to recognize that we can so easily stumble and fall, and we need God to be our ever-present help at all times!I openly admit that I need God’s help from day to day and I know without His presence, direction, and balance in my life, I am prone to mess it all up (and so quickly). I want to be mindful that we all fall short of the glory of God. But because the glory of God came down in Jesus to redeem us, we can now recover from a fall when we rise up in Him! Nothing else is needed and nothing else should be wanted, except His help! So here we go Lord, it's time to get out of bed and onto life--please go before me! Amen.
