UNASHAMED BEYOND a SINGULAR DAY
I just got home from church and outside of my place was a retired Easter basket. I say "retired" because you can tell it served its purpose for that one day of the year--Easter Sunday--to hold the contents of chocolate and other choice Easter candies. But now, this basket that once held goodies is presently holding emptiness. It was only "filled up" for the day, and sadly, so it seems, it did not live beyond the day. With this observation comes something else that's obvious. Because just as Easter has passed--as well as certain Christian hashtags like #HeIsRisen (which are no longer trending)--so have so many hearts went from being full on a day to being empty beyond the day. Let me explain. It seems as if so many are not ashamed of the gospel on a singular day, a day called Resurrection Sunday. Yet the hype has died down even though Jesus' life is still raised up. So many may have been "full" on that day, but because they leave the resurrection behind, they find their lives remaining empty, like the tomb. But the tomb is empty so that our hearts may be full! And even though the hype of Easter has died down, that doesn’t change the truth that Hope is forever raised and the gospel of Christ is still worthy to be praised. Today and everyday. Thus, let us be unashamed in the Name that took away our pain and shame, as we carry the gospel forth in our daily lives and not just during a once a year holiday time. The Apostle Paul confidently writes, “I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). He was unashamed of the gospel because it was not only personal in saving his soul from sin, but it is the proof of the power of God in saving any man or woman who believes. And on top of that, the gospel isn’t just about new life, but how God willingly gave us His life. How can we be ashamed of the One who died to the grave to take away our shame and then rose again to prove He is the only One who can save? You see, though the government will not elect the gospel and schools do not respect the gospel. And though the courts no longer protect the gospel and the world at large rejects the gospel. We can still be confident, by Gods grace alone, that salvation goes to anyone who honestly selects the gospel. And when Jesus is trending in your heart, He not only begins mending your life, but His righteousness begins to fill your life.So where from here? Well, let us be “unashamed” of the One who took away our shame. And unlike that basket I talked about in the beginning, let us be full of Him, so much so that His life spills over the hearts brim. Everyday, beyond a singular day.
