There are so many facets to a persons life, yet it is common to fall into the trap of remembering a person because of one negative face. One label. "That's so and so, the one who got divorced?" "Wasn't he addicted to drugs?" "She's a felon." "Oh, him, he dropped out of school." "She got pregnant in high school." 'Labels' all of which conveniently categorize a person's entire life, veiling his or her character behind one negative face frozen in time. One noticeable hardship. One bad season. One awful decision...
I attempt to transmit light from a dark prison, for even a single match can illuminate an entire room. Yet, I often think how most media sources report from the "light of liberty," but their message is almost always inherently dark for such is the nature of news. However, from the dark backdrop of prison, 'Prison Talk' may be able to talk someone out of a prison of pain or problems...
I often wonder what it's like for my parents when they come to visit me. I frankly don't know; nor can they fully comprehend what prison life is like for me. I can tell them and assure them that all is going well. But I'm their son, the youngest of their four children; leaving me here in prison can never be normal. It can never be comforting...
